My Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is that every child has the right to learn and receive a quality education. I believe that for a student to excel and reach their potential, that they need a classroom that feels safe and comfortable, nurturing, inclusive, collaborative, respectful and values diversity.
I believe all students are special and each one possesses the potential to bring something unique and special not only into the classroom but to the world. As well as this, each child beings a unique perspective to the classroom and it is imperative to acknowledge these special outlooks by giving students opportunities and a safe space to express, explore, experiment and formulate their own ideas and questions. I firmly believe that my job as a teacher is to guide and support students in their educations, to give students the knowledge and tools to unlock their potential and to become critical thinkers.
I aim to create an environment that encourages children to love learning, be curious, challenge themselves, engage and want to take responsibility of their learning journey. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel important, believed in, respected, cared for and safe to express themselves and their ideas. I want to be a teacher who makes it possible for her students to reach their full potential and beyond, feel safe to ask questions, view mistakes as learning opportunities, give and receive constructive feedback and strive to achieve their very best.
As a teacher I want to assist in developing each child's sense of agency, identity and belonging in the classroom whilst also building their confidence and communication skills. It is my belief that meaningful learning is directly linked with a child's social, cultural context and experience. I have the view that meaningful learning is directly linked with a child's social, cultural context and experience. I believe connecting learning with experiences outside of the classroom and engaging the students in learning that stimulates thinking minds, feelings and emotions, actions and movements is a goal I hope and wish to achieve in my classroom. I want my classroom to feel like a community and will emphasise encouragement and support for one another not only as peers but also as caring friends.
A strong passion and belief of mine is learner-oriented teaching, as it promotes learning that is both purposeful and enduring. I believe it is my responsibility to know who my learners are, and what they want to achieve so that I can create a individual learning plan and tailor a curriculum that fits their needs whist still leaving room for problem solving, exploration, creativity and curiosity.
Being a teacher is one of the most respected occupations and that demands commitment and I strongly believe in being accountable for ensuring my students cover the required curriculum and ensure I provided them with the support and resources to help them achieve their potential.
I aim to be a teacher who has passion throughout all subject areas and to motivate my students to learn in a safe learning environment. My philosophy and pedagogy reflect my own personal traits and attributes but I know I still have much to learn and look forward to the challenges. My teaching style and philosophy has an emphasis on inclusivity, compassion, and respect in the classroom with a positive safe environment that creates a meaningful learning environment for every single student. I looking forward to the challenges that I will face and am eager to further myself in this wonderfully rewarding career.
